Resilience, Silver Lining and Psychological Well-being in Women with Ischemic Heart Disease

The present study investigated the relationship between resilience, silver lining and psychological well-being in women with ischemic heart disease. A quantitative correlational study design with a non-probability purposive sampling strategy, was utilized in the selection of 100 women with ischemic heart disease, with an average age of 57.9 years (SD = 13.3). The scales comprised, The Brief Resilience Scale, Silver Lining Questionnaire, Psychological Well-being Scale and the Personal information sheet in order to assess the research variables. The study shows that there was a significant positive correlation between psychological wellbeing and resilience, with resilience being the strongest predictor of psychological well-being, followed by the silver lining in women with ischemic heart disease. The results can be applicable in the study of heart diseases by providing information on factors that enhance mental health in patients with ischemic heart disease. The knowledge of these factors will lead to an improvement of mental well-being of these patients.
